The Rings of Power watched by over 25 million, Amazon says

Amazon Studios shared its first picture of its upcoming untitled “Lord of the Rings” collection, due on its streaming service Sept. 2, 2022.

Amazon mentioned Saturday that the primary episode of its “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Energy” collection attracted over 25 million viewers globally in its first day, making it the largest ever debut for a present on its Prime Video streaming service.

The collection relies on the appendices of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” books and is the costliest tv collection of all time.

“It’s by some means becoming that Tolkien’s tales – among the many hottest of all time, and what many think about to be the true origin of the fantasy style – have led us to this proud second,” Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke mentioned in an announcement.

On the present’s U.Ok. premiere, Amazon founder billionaire Jeff Bezos hinted at how valuable the collection is to followers, saying certainly one of his sons had advised him “do not eff this up” when he realized of Amazon’s acquisition of the story rights.

Episodes of the present will proceed to debut weekly on Amazon Prime.

Earlier this month, HBO mentioned its “Home of the Dragon,” a “Recreation of Thrones” prequel collection, was the largest collection premiere in its historical past.

Clarification: This story was up to date to replicate that “The Rings of Energy” relies on the appendices to “The Lord of the Rings.”
